What Healthy Humaning Actually Is

It's the recognition of how much was missing in terms of information, tools, skills, and practice that we should have been given during our formative years.
The shit they should have taught you in school.

Healthy Humaning operates on three interconnected levels:

  • Personal: Building your individual foundation and authentic self-expression

  • Interpersonal: Creating healthier relationships and communication patterns

  • Community: Cultivating collective care and sustainable systems together

This has always been the framework. What's changing now is our focus and approach to match the urgency of current needs.

How Our Approach Has Evolved

Originally, Healthy Humaning took a gentle, bottom-up approach. Start with personal foundation-building, create better lived experiences for individuals, then extend that healing outward into relationships and communities. Slow, sustainable growth from the inside out.

But the state of the world has shifted so drastically that Healthy Humaning needs to shift with it in order to give us a better chance to build something better.

Democracy under attack. Climate change accelerating. Economic systems failing most people. Human rights being stripped away. Systems of oppression doing exactly what they were designed to do, while support systems collapse under the weight of need.

So now we're going top-down and calling for community participation in resisting systems of oppression, tearing them down, and building something new, better, and sustainable.

We're still here for gentle self-help—but the community need is much greater at the moment. We're cultivating practical tools for leaders who are exhausted from carrying everyone while systems collapse around them.

The BRACE Method remains our foundation—because whether you're working on personal growth, relationship healing, or community building, you need these skills.

Our comprehensive values framework doesn't force you to pick just three values and pretend that covers your whole life. Because real humans are complex, and the tools we use need to work with that complexity.

Hi, I'm Deana [Day-awn-uh, like "I spent the day on a farm"]. I've been doing leadership education for 25+ years, since I was 13 years old running peer programs and speaking at national conferences as a teenager.

I launched my business in March 2021 because people needed real tools for real problems. I recognized that traditional personal development wasn't built for the complexity of real human lives and the severe lack of information, tools, and skills we collectively face.

I help people build the foundation they need to create better lived experiences at the personal, interpersonal, and community levels. My approach is coffee-with-your-best-friend honest mixed with decades of leadership expertise.

Healthy Humaning accidentally birthed a whole new business model that prioritizes community care, transparency, and sustainability. This Community Care & Resourcing Model ensures that everyone—whether they can contribute financially or not—has access to the resources, support, and growth opportunities they need to thrive. The larger scope reflects the Healthy Humaning ethos of making sure we, and our (future) employees are well resourced while also contributing to make sure all people have their basic human needs met.
